Woah we really did not expect it when we started, that our term “Random Crap,” upon which we set out to find depictions of questionable taste involving the 44th POTUS… we really really did not expect to have that mean “the most offensive, benighted, prejudiced, soul-less, uninformed, racist, horrifying, tasteless, fucked up big fat piece of garbage random crap ever”… but it looks like The Awl is demonstrating it does:

It is difficult for us to evaluate the message of a women’s panty, in particular a thong panty, bearing the image of (then) political candidate Barack Obama.
At best we get a kind of mixed message. What does the wearer intend to express about herself? What does she (we insist on imagining a she not a he) intend to express about the candidate? Is being depicted on a panty something to aspire to? Were there Clinton Thong panties?
Is there a more subtle message conveyed if one considers the Obama Campaign motif of “change” with regard to this panty?

Obama Mii (What’s a Mii?)
Today we launched this new blog you see here. It’s called “Barack Obama Depicted on Random Crap” and it was inspired by a link given out on McSweeney’s Twitter, to a site called BadPaintingsOfBarackObama.com which is quite good, but also has a limited focus. Hence, the purpose to this blog.
In the process of getting started, with our first post, we wondered “what is a Mii?” It was then that we discovered what a Mii is, and at the same time this:
If you need explaining in more depth, a Mii is a kind of avatar or representation of someone on the Nintendo Wii video game console.
